1st Year not attending RC
by BeautifulMind ini feel relieved to spend that time doing anything else but sitting in a stadium for 8 hours with only an hour break listening to the same talks i've been hearing since i was a child.
not to mention trying to keep my young boys quiet so i wouldnt get the evil looks in my sectionđđ.
lot of walking was going on for us to try and tire them out.

Congratulations! It will be my 11th straight year. I can't tell you how liberating it is to not have to plan for it every year. Not to mention not having to deal with the prospect of actually sitting through it for 3 straight days. -

45 Minute Bethel Video about Changes (downsizing) at Watchtower
by OnTheWayOut ini don't see this posted elsewhere, and i don't have the links besides this facebook one.. but here is a 45-minute long bethel talk about the changes at bethel including addressing the hard feelings of people who were given the axe.
basically, everything must change.
we gave remaining bethelites saturday off to do our bidding in "the field" and we give bethelites over 70 an extra day a week off (if you can find any such bethelites).

What is the ultimate goal now?
Probably to hope their antidepressant meds keep them functional enough to stay above the national average.

He also once said that Trayvon Martin was killed so that his organs could be harvested, and that black women should have as many children as possible and live off welfare.
Don't spend too much time trying to analyze him.

Update on my recently disfellowshipped niece
by keyser soze ini had posted about a month ago that my niece, who just turned 15, was getting disfellowshipped.
i learned this past weekend that she tried to commit suicide.
between being df'd, and her dad not being around, it became too much for her.

I think she was disfellowshipped first and then became suicidal due to the disfellowshipping.
Yes, that's correct. There was really no hint before that she might be suicidal.
Could you subtly point out to your sister that further involvement in the organization wluld likely be bad fof her mental health?
Unfortunately, her response to all of this, rather than objectively examine the effects such a high-control religion has on young people, is to pull her two younger children out of school and have them homeschooled.
This is why baptizing those under 18 yrs of age should not be allowedÂ
Indeed. My niece was only 11 when she was baptized. The prospect that someone so young is somehow in position to make a lifetime commitment is beyond ridiculous.

Suffering and existence of God
by elbib inmany people find it difficult to reconcile suffering and existence of god.
it seems they feel that it is godâs obligation to shield humans from ill-effects of their short-sighted acts..
peopleâs hobby has something to do with this kind of reasoning!

Cult recruitment 101: save the distasteful stuff for later.
Yeah. At least the JWs have the good sense to indoctrinate you before revealing how batshit crazy they are.

Can l ask what is her Mother's take on this ?
At this point, I think she just wants her daughter to be healthy and happy. And she knows from personal experience how cruel the disfellowshipping process is.
She'll never leave the organization, but that has more to do with her dependency on her family and friends than it does her belief that it's "the truth". And the fact that she's ok with her daughter associating with me and my fiancé is very telling.

Thank goodness that she has the sense and courage to walk away as soon as she can
I can't tell you how proud of her I am that she can see through the bs at such a young age. It took me until I was in my 20's. Too bad it took being treated so cruelly by an organization she believed to be so loving.
Keep encouraging her in her plans.
I intend to, even though I know I need to tread carefully. She's also grown close to my fiancé. We're both trying to show her that she has the world at her feet, and doesn't have to be shackled by the JW religion.
The irony of it is, that because of her being disfellowhipped, we're the only ones who will have any association with her, and are the only ones, other than her mother, influencing her.

Why is the dad not around?
It's a complicated situation with her dad. The mom had full custody, and took the kids halfway across the country, so that he couldn't see them. He moved out of state after that. He also suffers from depression, which he's never treated and has difficulty holding down a job. But him and the ex have been speaking, and he's coming back in a couple months.

Between being df'd, and her dad not being around, it became too much for her. She spent a couple days in an institution after getting out of the hospital.
The good news is that she's doing a lot better. She spent the weekend with me and my fiancé. She's in counseling now. She also confided in us that she doesn't want to be a JW when gets out of school. Once she turns 18 and moves out of her mom's house, she's done with it all.
At least there's something positive to take from it.

Where did Jehovah go ?
by Deleteandrestart infor the many years i was mentally " in " the congregation, i equated the organisation as interchangeable with the persona of jehovah, in effect whatever the organisation said or thought, that was what jehovah thought and that was what jehovah said.... it was that simple.
so when i found out the ttatt and the cynical moves of the organisation over the years, including 1975 , the donation arrangements, the united nations, etc i was devastated and thought " where's jehovah in all of this?".
the god who i'd poured my heart out to on many occasions and who i thought was silently listening and hearing my pleas ..... was not there , .

Hi deleteandreset-
You cope by not thinking about what you've lost, but rather, what you 've gained. You're free now. Free to be the person you were meant tobe, without the constrictions of worrying about whether or not what you're doing meets the approval of the organization, and by extension, Jehovah.
Figuring out what that is may be easier said than done, but at least you can do so without guilt or judgment.
